Building Information Modelling (BIM) Building information modeling (BIM) is a process involving the generation and management of digital representations of material physical and functional characteristics.
Nvelope content is BIM level 2 compliant.
NVELOPE have introduced BIM objects for Nvelope rainscreen cladding support systems. BIM objects can be used by architects, main contractors and other specifiers in the planning and design phase of rainscreen projects to create digital representations of the intended layout together with detailed technical information, accreditations and other background data to create a relevant information rich support specification.
NVELOPE BIM objects contain detailed dimensions, product specifications and other key details to integrate into virtual model and simulated building designs. Compatible with both, Revit and IFC software versions – NVELOPE objects are hosted on the NBS National BIM Library and are available to be downloaded to integrate it into any BIM software.
In the UK the Government Construction Strategy published in May 2011, states that the '...Government will require fully collaborative 3D BIM (with all project and asset information, documentation and data being electronic) as a minimum by 2016'. This will represent a minimum requirement for Level 2 BIM on centrally-procured public projects.
